Why choose the FDM 2WD Short Shift Kit? Ours is the only complete bolt on kit available. Unlike other kits out there, there is no cutting, grinding or welding. Just remove the original shift lever/fork and forward rod and bolt in the FDM SSK. Why replace the forward rod cup/ball with heim joints? The original 964/993 forward rod utilizes a cup and ball joint that are a press fit. As the years go on, the factory cup/ball joint gets loose and sloppy, causing less precise shift feel. The FD Motorsports AWD SSK replaces the “ball and cup” connection at the base of the shift lever with a stainless steel bolt and stainless steel rod end which will NOT wear out and fail, as well as a new front cup, keeping you on the road for years and years to come. NOTE: On 2WD cars earlier than 1992, you will need to modify the shift box and install newer style shift box bushings (bearing sleeves)
